EA Cancels Command & Conquer

A decidedly surprising announcement: EA puts an end to the Project Command & Conquer the reinterpretation and free to play with Frostbite Engine 3 of the classic RTS-90s, as well as ” spiritual ” of Generals.

The publisher also announced the closure of Vicotry Games, ex-BioWare Victory, or the team that was working on Command & Conquer. In addition, EA lets you know officially that his decision to cancel the project depends on the feedback received from fans after the test phase alpha closed.

” Being part of a creative team means being aware that not all of your ideas will see the light, ” reads the official statement issued by EA. ” In this case, we had not included in the first phase the campaign mode and multiplayer experience based on an economic structure. ”

” The feedback from the players after the alpha test was clear: we were not doing the game that people expected. Why, after much thought, we decided to stop production of this version of the game. Though we respect the work done by our team of talented, ultimately, the most important thing is to deliver gamers the title you expect and deserve to have. ”

” We believe that Command & Conquer is a very strong franchise with still a huge potential and with a great tradition. Why we want to create in a short time the best game possible. To achieve the goal, we have already begun to consider some alternatives for resume working on Command & Conquer quickly. We will be happy to share more information as soon as this becomes possible. ”

So, it seems that we should expect a new announcement of Command & Conquer relatively quickly. The version was canceled as soon as originally announced in December 2011 as Command & Conquer: Generals 2, while in August, the following year EA confirmed the nature of the free to play title and the absence of the single player campaign. He later retracted this setting, planning to release a series of episodes with stories and missions.
